Wainwrights

A Wainwright is a Lake District fell with its own chapter in Alfred Wainwright's seven-volume Pictorial Guide, published between 1955 and 1966. This page lists every Wainwright currently in our directory.

Wainwright walked and drew all 214 fells himself for the seven volumes. Walkers have followed them ever since. The fells cluster around Keswick, Ambleside, Coniston, and Wasdale.

Scafell Pike is the highest, at 978 m. Most of the others still take a full walking day.
